if you’re like me and overpaying for the privilege to use an iphone in an area that has zero 3G coverage…why not shell out one more dollar for a fun polaroid app.
it helps you use new technology to pretend you are using old technology. retro modern technology. it’s the wave of the future.
it’s called “shakeitphoto”
most of “my kids” or my client’s kids are seeing the most snow they have ever seen in their lives – right now. this very day. some for the first time ever-ever. that’s poignant, people.

i think i’ve posted about butch once before.
this is his counterpart – sundance.
we wants to play fetch with you.
true story.

snow piling high on the bushes…

this is pedro – the older brother.
yes, we have three cats.
yes, we have one more cat in this house than we have people.
yes. yes.

snowin’ in the pines…

here’s hoping you all get to frolic and play, the eskimo way,

i had to share this with y’all, and i know that mom will be cool with it, because one, she’s cool like that – and two, she’s the one who stirred this all up. i believe her very words were, “watch this – this is funny…andrew! give julianne a hug! watch, watch…”
sometimes mom will ask the kids to hug, and it’s the most natural thing in the world…other times you get hilarious and sweet moments like this – more akin to my own childhood. i certainly yelled my fair share of, “momma! he’s touching me!”
and no, i did not insert the “that was funny” image randomly – that was the exact look on andrew’s face after he had attempted the hug for our entertainment. and that little smirk at the end when she is about to fall from pushing him! ha! priceless…
don’t you think this would make a great christmas card?? i’m just sayin’…
more traditional cuteness coming from these two soon…

livia and luke live in a beautiful home in boaz, alabama with a backyard view of green pastures…loved this little moment…

here, luke has not quite warmed up to me yet, but i still love the look on his face here as he contemplates climbing into the chair all by himself…

this was in the grass, waiting to dart between your legs, trip you up and into a cow pie…naughty kitty…

she’s thinking about how to answer a question about banana flavored popsicles…nice call to mom on the blue chair…

if i can come away with shots like these next two from every shoot then I’m 100% satisfied…

big, natural smiles that make you smile just by lookin’ at ‘em…

another big smile, from luke in his cute orange suit..

now normally, i would stop here for the sneak peek ’cause you got what you came for…or so you think. livia may have given me two of the funniest shots i’ve ever taken and you must see them. this is the set-up shot, so you know what you’re lookin’ at…her prized ‘goldfish in a bag’…

i asked her to pull the bag up in front of her eyes. she did. i love her.

…now for the second shot.
it ranks up there with this shot of britton, my nephew, doing his best impression of me. all i can say is if this is what i look like while i’m shooting, it’s a good thing i wasn’t trying to win jon over from behind the camera…

here it is – it makes me laugh, i love it…

no, i haven’t been asleep all this time…but butch has…

here’s the short version…

I was feeling nostalgic and wondering what I was shooting a couple years back in March, so I started sifting through the digi-files and found this little number.
It was March 20, 2006 and it was the first day of spring. Now, I can’t tell you whether or not I was under the impression that this was “the day” you could accomplish this balancing act – but I understand now that there is nothing scientific about it.
Either way – my reaction to releasing the egg and having it stand alone was something similar to witnessing a miracle.
I had been working at balancing it on my window sill for a solid 10 minutes for the sole purpose of photographing it if I was successful – and then when I was I never thought it would stay long enough for me to get a good shot. I ended up getting about 5, then 10 – I finally had to take the egg down from the sill for fear of it being knocked off by a kitty.
So yea – it was a simple pleasure, but it made my day.

I got a call from a friend tonight asking when Jon was getting off of work – I just said, “Definitely not before 5:00.” That’s all he wanted. Jon calls me at, oh – 5:25 or so to say that he had a visitor at work and the visitor left him with a “prise”.
Jon and I go back and forth calling these gifts that you didn’t know you were getting a “prize’” and a “surprise” because each of our families used a different word. Jon thought for the longest time that I was just shortening the word sur-prise and saying “prise”. It’s cuter that way anyway, I guess. I’m sorry, I’m rambling – I’m just so excited, but you would be too if your husband came home with this -

To finish the story – knowing who had called me earlier, I knew INSTANTLY what the prise was – as I had only dropped the biggest, most point-blank hint in the world last time we were together that I would just LOVE to have another piece of “that cake we had that time”. And now we have a whole one of our very own!
So, I had to post pictures to say a big THANK YOU, AMY!!! 70 degree weather and a strawberry cake – yes, I do believe it’s going to be a good weekend…

Today being Britton’s birthday (I thanked God personally for allowing Amy to have Britton on 3-5-7, so that his absent minded Aunt could have a decent shot at remembering his birthday…) I thought it would be fun to post a simple “look back” post.
Instead of just picking my favs, which would have taken FOREVER – I went with a “facial expression” theme and tried to quickly pick as much variety as possible. So let’s watch Britton’s first two years unfold in 8 expressive pictures…
newborn – a short moment of peace and tranquility…

3 months – “do you mind? i’m burping here…”

6 months – “does anyone else smell that?”

1st halloween – “WHAT? they’re just GIVING the candy away? like FOR FREE?”

1st christmas – woo hoo! saint nick is comin’ to town!

1 year – “yes, I can scrunch my face up like that, see?”

1st beach trip – “how you doin’?”

19 months – happiness, joy, glee, etc., etc., etc…

Love you, Buddy! Happy Happy Birthday!

Okay, so that title’s a little ridiculous, but imagine if I had titled it, “rob and the frog and the rock…” You know all of you out there that know that song would be hearing it too, so there you go.
This series is a little too fun to be deemed acceptable by the senior portrait authority (I don’t know who they are, but they’re out there…watching…) They can be regular portraits for now, but one day…one day these will be the images that go out in the graduation invitations…one day.
Seriously—Seniors, I know we talked about making the images more personal and a lot of you brought some stuff and had great ideas for the day, I’m only sorry we didn’t have more time together to do everything we wanted.
A few more group things still to come…

i’m not exactly fond of spiders, but the colors were so striking…i’ll start with the wide shot so that if you change your mind, you can look away without getting a really good look.

here is the same shot, a little closer. if you’re still with me get ready for some hairy legs…

finally, the close-up. most spiders have eight eyes, right? but isn’t it funny how he looks angry? i might be too if I was just hangin’ out on a sweet rose petal and someone started takin’ my picture.
